Rules for Sitters
Once
a sitter has passed our vetting procedure they are given induction
training.
This covers health and safety in the
home and with
animals and also the rules under which all sitters have to
work. At the end of the training every sitter leaves
with their own
copy of the sitters manual, which they are expected to take
with them on each assignment. The following are the main
rules under which all sitters operate:
1) No person is allowed into the house unless it has previously
been agreed with the client and this includes people claiming
to be relatives. The only exception
is for an approved contractor or professional carrying out an emergency repair
when the sitter will check with Head Office before allowing them access.
2) The sitter must never divulge information about the clients or their whereabouts
unless previously agreed.
3) The sitter will only use equipment and facilities that have been agreed
upon during the initial Assignment visit, in prticular they are forbidden
access to the client's computer unless specifically agreed otherwise at the
assignment visit.
4)
The sitter will not smoke in the client’s house.
5) The sitter will contact or be contacted by Head Office every
day.
6) The sitter will carry out all of the agreed duties as specified
in the previously completed checklist.
7) The sitter will keep telephone use to a minimum and will
maintain a log of all calls made. The sitter will pay for
any personal calls. (Sitters should ideally purchase a pre-paid
calling card)
8) The sitter will take telephone messages noting the time and
date of the call.
9) Any loss or damage must be reported to Head Office and to
the client on their return
10) The sitter must not undertake any action that endangers their
own health and safety. Sitters must assess and avoid risks wherever possible. If any concerns or doubts arise, the
sitter will contact Head Office.
