How does the service work?

If you are thinking about using a sitter, then simply contact Safe Hands Sitters by using our

CONTACT FORM.

Experience has shown us that the contact form followed by a telephone booking is preferable as it allows us to gather even more information to ensure the best possible match between the house sitter and the client. Once you have used the online form, if you haven't heard from us by the end of the next business day, please phone 0845 2600 488 in the unlikely event of a technical error.

We usually confirm availability of house sitters within 24 hours of a request. You will then be given preliminary details and if you are happy to proceed, you will be contacted by the house sitter who best matches your needs, to arrange a visit to your home. This visit fulfils two vital requirements:
1) It allows you to decide if this is the right person with whom to entrust the care of your home and pets. If you don’t feel that they are suitable then tell us as soon as possible and we will find an alternative.
2) It provides you with the opportunity to explain in detail any special tasks that may be required in your absence. During this visit the sitter will complete a detailed checklist and instruction sheet.

The sitter will then arrive at your home on the day agreed, usually the day of your departure, but occasionally the previous day. This gives you to opportunity to advise the sitter of any last minute changes in circumstances. You can then leave your home and animals, knowing that they will be secure and well cared for.
On your return the sitter will be on hand to report on your pet's welfare and any occurrences in the home. If you have left a return home shopping list, they will have filled your fridge and cupboards with those essential items you require.
